California-based Supermicro said it is not the target of an ongoing Taiwanese investigation after placing four employees in Taiwan on administrative leave amid a chip smuggling probe.
The company said two employees remain in detention pending a hearing, while two others were released on bail. All four have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues, Supermicro said in an open letter posted on its website Wednesday.
The U.S. server company also denied media reports that its Taiwan offices were raided, saying it had coordinated with authorities to provide access to the employees' workspaces and electronic devices.
The company added that the investigation has not affected its operations and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for unlawful conduct.
The statement came after reports surfaced that Taiwan prosecutors detained several Supermicro workers in the country over alleged illegal shipments of Nvidia chips to China.
