Sunda Energy (SNDA.L) said Friday its board disputes the basis and background of the notice of intention to terminate sent by Timor-Leste's upstream regulator, Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo, for the TL-SO-19-16 production sharing contract.
The notice stated that the company's unit SundaGas Banda Unipessoal breached the contract for failing to satisfy the third-year minimum exploration work requirement of drilling the gas field's Chuditch-2 appraisal well. SundaGas has until Oct. 16 to submit a written response before the ANP issues its final decision.
SundaGas has requested an urgent meeting with the regulator for further clarifications, while Sunda Energy is consulting with regulatory and legal advisers on the matter.
