StanChart Buys Back Shares

Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) repurchased 801,239 shares on Wednesday at an average price of 18.72 pounds sterling apiece, according to a Thursday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

The British lender plans to cancel the shares, following which it will have about 2.21 billion shares in issue.

Korea Aerospace Industries to Purchase 21 Spare Engines Worth KRW1.088 Trillion

Korea Aerospace Industries (KRX:047810) will invest 1.09 trillion won to purchase 21 spare engines, according to a Thursday filing with the Korea Exchange.The new facility investment, which will be made between March 2026 and April 2039, is equivalent to roughly 9.93% of company equity, the filing said.The facility investment aims to secure equipment ahead of supporting the firm's long-term equipment plans.Shares of the aerospace company rose more than 5% at market close.

SMIC's Profit Climbs 5% in Q1

Semiconductor Manufacturing International (HKG:0981, SHA:688981), or SMIC, recorded a 5% rise in attributable profit in the first quarter of 2026 to $197.4 million from $188 million a year prior, according to a Thursday Hong Kong bourse filing.Earnings per share remained unchanged at $0.02 across the periods.Revenue for the three months increased 12% to $2.51 billion from $2.25 billion in the year-ago period.The firm expects revenue to increase by 14% to 16% in the second quarter compared with the three months ended March 31.
