St George Mining (ASX:SGQ) said the permitting process for a potential mining and industrial operation at its Araxá project in Brazil started with the submission of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Impact Report (RIMA) with the State Environmental Foundation of Minas Gerais, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.
The company said the submission of the EIA and RIMA is the first step in the multi-stage licensing process administered by the State of Minas Gerais, aimed at securing the preliminary, installation and operation licenses required to construct, commission and operate a mine and industrial complex at the Araxá project.
The company's shares rose 2% in recent Tuesday trade.
