British energy company SSE's renewables output for the quarter ended June 30 grew 31% year over year to 3.264 terawatt-hours from 2.499 TWh, driven by favorable weather conditions and new capacity additions, it said on Thursday.
The company's total flexible thermal output, referring mainly to gas-fired power generation, stood at 3.514 TWh, also up from 3.186 TWh generated a year earlier.
SSE highlighted that it significantly increased its network investments during the first three months of the 2027 fiscal year, with capital spending almost doubling to 888 million British pounds ($1.20 billion) from the previous year's 484 million pounds.
Of the total investment, 666 million pounds were allocated to transmission networks, and 222 million pounds to distribution systems, according to the report.
SSE said it is on track to invest a record 5 billion pounds during the fiscal year to support several developments, including the Netherton energy hub near Peterhead in Scotland, the 1.8-gigawatt Western Isles subsea link, the 2.4-GW Dogger Bank A and B wind farms in the North Sea, and the Platin power station in Ireland.
