Spark New Zealand (NZE:SPK, ASX:SPK) said it will roll out an advanced ultra-early fire detection system at the Waitangi Endowment Forest in partnership with the Far North District Council and Dryad, the first of its kind in New Zealand, according to a Tuesday statement.
The company said the system uses sensors trained to detect variations in air quality and the presence of pollutants associated with smoldering and smoke to safeguard one of New Zealand's cultural landmarks against wildfires.
Spark's New Zealand shares fell 2% in recent Tuesday trade.
