Power transmission provider SPP or Southwest Power Pool is extending its Conservative Operations Advisory for the West Balancing Authority Area until the end of Saturday, it said in an update.
Conservative Operations Advisories are considered stable operating conditions and no action is needed from the public to save energy.
Their purpose is to raise awareness of potential threats to power supply reliability among companies involved with generation and transmission, the update said.
The extension to the advisory was made due to uncertainty for the forecast with the possibility of higher demand and outages amid unusually hot weather along with potentially lower wind and solar power output.
Supply could be higher than expected during peak hours or potentially, supply could be lower if there are forced outages, the update said.
