South Korea's Central Bank Launches Pilot for 24-Hour International Won Settlement Network

The Bank of Korea has launched a pilot operation for its international won settlement network on Monday, according to a same-day release.

The 24-hour settlement network, a first for the South Korean central bank, will allow payments in won during business hours in other countries.

Four banks, including KB Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, Hana Bank and Shinhan Bank, have participated in the pilot operation, with foreign banks and others to be on board during the full operation scheduled on Jan. 27, 2027.
