SoftBank (TYO:94340) said it has launched the beta version of its data ecosystem platform, GaranAI, to support generative artificial intelligence development while protecting the rights of content owners in Japan, according to a Wednesday release.
The Japanese technology company said that it also started accepting applications for the platform, targeting an official commercial launch from January 2027.
The new platform will collect data from content holders, including newspaper publishers and media companies, and convert it into processed data, preserving factual information while making it difficult to restore the original copyright material.
The platform will also provide usage fees to content holders and check unauthorized use of copyright material.
