Semiconductor Manufacturing International (HKG:0981, SHA:688981) completed the registration of newly placed shares in relation to its acquisition of 49% of SMIC North Integrated Circuit Manufacturing (Beijing), according to a Shanghai bourse filing on Thursday.
The technology company placed nearly 547.2 million new shares for 74.20 yuan per share to five investors that previously held the stake, raising 40.6 billion yuan from the transaction.
One of the investors, the National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund, owned 4.17% of the SMIC after the transaction. Together with its concerted party, Xinxin (Hong Kong) Investment, the National IC Fund owns 6.8% of the company's total share capital.
The transaction did not result in a change in the company's control.
SMIC shares fell nearly 1% in Hong Kong but rose 4% in Shanghai in recent trade.
