Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group's (TYO:8316) profit attributable to owners increased 33% to 501.4 billion yen in the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 from 376.9 billion yen a year earlier.
The banking group's diluted earnings per share rose to 131.59 yen from 97.44 yen a year ago, according to a Friday Japan Exchange filing.
Ordinary income increased 17% to 2.85 trillion yen from 2.44 trillion yen a year earlier.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, SMFG continues to project attributable profit of 1.7 trillion yen, up 7.4%, or 223.58 yen per share.
The company maintained its dividend forecast and expects to pay a fourth-quarter dividend of 90 yen per share before the planned two-for-one stock split.
