Uruguayan energy company and regulator ANCAP approved a one-year suspension of the initial exploration subperiod for Sintana Energy's (SEI.L) Area Off-1 block off the coast of Uruguay.
The suspension was requested by the block's operator, Chevron Mexico Finance LLC, Sucursal Uruguay, following delays in the environmental permits for the site's 3D seismic acquisition campaign, according to a Tuesday filing. The initial exploration subperiod will now expire on Aug. 23, 2027.
The oil and gas exploration company added that the seismic acquisition campaign's first season was completed before the end of April, with the second season slated to start in the fourth quarter.
