Singapore Telecommunications (SGX:Z74) has partnered with Gulf Development to develop new submarine cable connectivity between Thailand and Singapore, according to a Thursday filing to the Singapore Exchange.
Under the deal, the two companies will jointly develop and invest in subsea cable assets to address growing regional demand forcloud, AI, data center and digital services.
As the first project through this partnership, SingTel and Gulf Development will participate in the Vietnam-Thailand-Singapore (VTS) Cable System. The cable system is expected to be operational by 2030.
The partners could also consider investing in terrestrial cable systems and other subsea cable systems in the future.
SingTel's shares were down nearly 1% in recent trade.
