Singapore shares declined on Friday, tracking regional losses as Asian stocks slid on Apple's price hikes which could have an impact of booming global chip demand.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,155.95 and 5,214.11 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,191.73, down 27.23 points or 0.5% compared to Thursday's close.
In economic news, Singapore's manufacturing output increased 13% year on year in May, slowing from a revised 16.5% increase a month prior, according to data released by the Singapore Economic Development Board.
On the corporate front, shares of Serial Achieva (SGX:XHV) were up nearly 5% at the close as it secured a co-location services contract in Malaysia, to provide data center capacity and related facilities to a local cloud services provider.
GSH (SGX:BDX) closed nearly 4% higher as it raised SG$80 million in gross proceeds via an issuance of digital securities on the SDAX platform.
Meanwhile, JustCo (SGX:JCO) was up nearly 3% at the close as it launched a new co-working space in Singapore at the Octagon.
