Singapore shares opened strong on Tuesday but quickly slipped into the red, dragged by rising crude prices amid the renewed fighting between the US and Iran in the Middle East.
The Straits Times Index (STI) opened up 11.8 points, or 0.21%, at 5,767.160.
Investors are also cautiously eyeing the building pressure for a possible interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve driven by inflation fears.
