Singapore shares opened on a weaker note on Wednesday, weighed down by cautious sentiment as escalating military tensions between the U.S. and Iran pushed crude oil prices higher.
The Straits Times Index (STI) opened 6.31 points, or 0.11%, lower at 5,704.060.
Brent crude rose near $97 a barrel after oil prices climbed for a third straight session as hostilities between the US and Iran intensified, potentially disrupting crude flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
