Singapore shares opened in the red on Friday, weighed down by lingering concerns over the recent US Federal Reserve interest rate hike and bucking a broader Asian market rally fueled by declining oil prices.
The Straits Times Index opened 11.24 points, or 0.20%, lower at 5,649.280.
The local market's decline contrasted with regional gains as Brent crude fell for a third consecutive day to just under $104 a barrel, driven by easing supply concerns in the Middle East.
