Singapore shares opened lower on Thursday, mirroring overnight declines on Wall Street as investors traded with caution amid surging oil prices and renewed inflation concerns.
The Straits Times Index (STI) fell 25.25 points, or 0.44%, to open at 5,704.38.
Market sentiment remained constrained by geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which pushed Brent crude above $101 per barrel and triggered supply concerns. The commodities rally has heightened inflation concerns ahead of US inflation data.
