Shanghai Electric Power (SHA:600021) commenced the commercial operation of the Unit 5 of the SPIC Binhai Project, according to a Shanghai bourse filing on Tuesday.
The project, located in the Binhai Port Area of Yancheng Port, Jiangsu Province, China, includes two 1,000-megawatt ultra-supercritical, coal-fired generating units.
Unit 5, the first generating unit of the project, started operations after completing its 168-hour full-load trial operation. The second unit is expected to begin its commercial operation at the end of the third quarter.
The power company's subsidiary, State Power Investment Corporation Jiangsu Electric Power, led the construction.
