ShaMaran Petroleum Reports Rise in Oil Production as Two Blocks in Iraq Restart Operations

ShaMaran Petroleum (SNM.OL, SNM.ST) said Monday its production and pipeline exports increased gradually after operations restarted at the Atrush and Sarsang blocks in Iraq amid security concerns in the Middle East.

The Iraq-focused oil and gas company expects production at both blocks to increase further in the coming weeks, with the Atrush block expected to soon hit 40,000 barrels of oil per day, compared with the current production rate of 37,000 bopd.

The company said field damage assessment is ongoing on the Sarsang block, which is currently producing 7,000 bopd. It added that the operator is considering various solutions to achieve full capacity at the block, while monitoring continues on the security situation in the region.

Shell to Divest Indian Renewables Unit to Aditya Birla for $1.8 Billion

Oil and gas giant Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS) said Monday it will sell Solenergi Power, which includes its Indian renewable energy business Sprng Energy, for $1.8 billion.The sale to Aditya Birla Group's renewable energy platform, Aditya Birla Renewables, is expected to complete by yearend. Shell said Sprng Energy employees will continue employment with the new owner.Sprng Energy supplies solar and wind power to electricity distribution companies in India.
