Tech stocks were higher Monday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) up 0.3% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 1.7%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 1.4%.
In corporate news, STMicroelectronics (STM) shares gained 2.2% after the company said it released a new 3-dimensional light detection and ranging module designed for AI applications on small computing devices.
Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google DeepMind data scientist and Nobel Prize winner John Jumper is leaving to join Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet-backed Anthropic, he said Friday. Alphabet shares were down 5.7%.
SpaceX (SPCX) has started its first offering of senior unsecured notes, the proceeds of which will be used to repay outstanding borrowings under its bridge loan facility and to pay related fees and expenses, the company said Monday in a regulatory filing. Separately, SpaceX has signed a roughly $6.3 billion computing power agreement with Reflection AI, CNBC reported. SpaceX shares were falling past 10%.
