The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.6%.
In corporate news, Novartis (NVS) defeated a bid by Accord Healthcare to invalidate its Entresto patent, with a UK court ruling that the patent and a related protection certificate remain valid, Reuters reported. Novartis shares declined 0.2%.
MapLight Therapeutics (MPLT) shares climbed 4%. The company plans to sell securities in a private-placement financing for gross proceeds of $150 million.
MeiraGTx (MGTX) shares rose 2.6% after the company reported a Q2 profit as revenue soared.
Cullinan Therapeutics (CGEM), Taiho Oncology and Taiho Pharmaceutical said a phase 3 trial evaluating the combination of their jointly developed drug zipalertinib and chemotherapy to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer met its primary endpoint. Cullinan shares rose 2.2%.
