Healthcare stocks were mixed premarket Friday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) declining by 0.7% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) 0.3% higher.
Novo Nordisk (NVO) shares were down more than 7% after the company said its ziltivekimab drug candidate did not reduce major adverse cardiovascular events in people with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and inflammation compared with placebo in a phase 3 trial.
AbbVie (ABBV) stock was down more than 3% after the company cut its guidance for 2026 adjusted earnings per share.
Moderna (MRNA) shares were up more than 3% after the company posted a narrower Q2 net loss as revenue increased during the period.
