Health care stocks were higher premarket Tuesday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) gaining by 0.1% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) advancing 0.2%.

IDEXX Laboratories (IDXX) shares rose more than 3% pre-bell after the company reported higher Q1 comparable earnings and revenue.

Sector Update: Energy Stocks Rise Late Afternoon

Energy stocks were higher late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index increasing 0.6% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) up 0.8%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was decreasing 0.2%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was shedding 0.4%.In sector news, oil prices jumped as fighting in the Iran war flared up again. The US military destroyed six Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday after Tehran attacked US Navy ships and commercial vessels, CNN reported, citing Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of the US Central Command. Tehran fired missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates, the UAE's Defense Ministry said in a post on X earlier in the day.Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil climbed 3.2% to $105.22 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract jumped 5.5% to $114.10 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 2.5% to $2.85 per 1 million BTU.In corporate news, Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) shares gained 3.7% after the firm said Monday it is opening six new renewable natural gas stations along major US freight transportation routes to expand its station network.Chevron's (CVX) Q1 financial results set up a "meaningful" acceleration in sequential earnings, with momentum building through the rest of this year and into the first half of 2027, UBS said in a note. UBS kept its buy rating and increased its price target to $220 from $218. Chevron shares were rising 0.90%.Hess Midstream (HESM) shares climbed 3.8% after it posted higher Q1 earnings and revenue.ConocoPhillips (COP) will add drilling rigs to sustain operational efficiencies, given the duration of Permian inventory, which should ramp production starting in 2027, RBC Capital Markets said in a note. ConocoPhillips shares rose 1.4%.

Health care stocks declined late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index decreasing 0.3% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) shedding 0.4%.The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 1.6%.In corporate news, Sanofi (SNY) said Monday it will invest 294 million Canadian dollars ($216 million) to expand its global AI Centre of Excellence in Toronto in a bid to accelerate the development and delivery of medicines. Its shares were down past 5%.Amgen (AMGN) said Monday it will invest an additional $300 million in its biologics manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico. Amgen shares were down 2.1%.Eli Lilly (LLY) shares added 0.7% after Barclays lifted the company's price target to $1,400 from $1,350, while keeping its overweight rating.Vanda Pharmaceuticals (VNDA) shares jumped past 7% after it said Monday its motion sickness drug Nereus is now commercially available in the US.

Sector Update: Financial Stocks Fall Monday

Financial stocks declined Monday with the NYSE Financial Index falling 1.1% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) losing 0.7%.The Philadelphia Housing Index dropped 3.4%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) shed 0.6%.Bitcoin (BTC-USD) rose 1.7% to $79,950, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries gained 6.8 basis points to 4.45%.In economic news, new orders for US factory goods rose 1.5% in March, above expectations for a 0.6% gain in a Bloomberg survey, following a revised 0.3% increase in February. Excluding a 0.8% rebound in transportation orders, new orders would have been up 1.6%, topping the projected 1.3% gain and matching February's pace.In corporate news, Boyd, which is backed by Goldman Sachs (GS) Asset Management, is offering a deeply discounted loan to refinance its capital structure following the sale of its liquid-cooling business to Eaton (ETN), Bloomberg reported. Goldman shares fell 2.2%.Carlyle (CG) arranged a first-of-its-kind financing that will seed its next flagship buyout fund while repaying investors in some of its older funds, Bloomberg reported. Carlyle shares rose 1.1%.American Express Global Business Travel, which is operated by Global Business Travel (GBTG), agreed to be acquired by Long Lake Management for $6.3 billion in cash. Global Business Travel shares surged 58%.Blackstone (BX) Digital Infrastructure Trust set its initial public offering at 87.5 million shares with an anticipated price of $20 a share. Blackstone shares fell 1.7%.
