Sector Update: Financial Stocks Lean Lower Pre-Bell Friday

Financial stocks were leaning lower pre-bell Friday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) slightly declining.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was 0.3% lower and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 0.1%.

NatWest Group (NWG) stock was up more than 3% after the company posted higher Q2 earnings and revenue.

WisdomTree (WT) shares were up more than 2% after the company posted higher Q2 adjusted earnings and revenue.

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial (SMFG) shares were down 0.3% even after the company reported higher fiscal Q1 earnings and ordinary income.

Sector Update: Energy Stocks Higher Late Afternoon

Energy stocks advanced late Thursday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.8% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 0.5%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index advanced 2.5%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 0.6%.Late Wednesday, the US Central Command forces completed a "heavy wave" of strikes against Iran in response to Tuesday's attempted missile attacks on US forces, according to CENTCOM. Financial stocks were higher in late Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 1.1% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) up 0.5%.The Philadelphia Housing Index was falling 1.9%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) was shedding 1.5%.Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was increasing 1.3% to $64,746, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 4.1 basis points to 4.663%.In economic news, the US personal consumption expenditure price index fell 0.1% month over month in June, marking the first decline since April 2020, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Thursday.
