Sector Update: Financial Stocks Edge Higher Premarket Thursday

Financial stocks were edging higher premarket Thursday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advancing by 0.1%.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 0.4% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.3% lower.

Barclays (BCS) is preparing to sell about $875 million of debt financing to support Blackstone (BX) and Tinicum's acquisition of UK aerospace supplier Senior, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Shares of Barclays were nearly 1% higher pre-bell.

WisdomTree (WT) has launched the WisdomTree Space Economy Fund or WSPC on Nasdaq. Shares of WisdomTree were down more than 2% premarket.

Bank of America (BAC) has invested in two deals in Germany's Schuldschein private debt market since last year, as part of efforts to secure medium-sized European clients, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Bank of America stock was 0.2% higher pre-bell.

Energy stocks were higher late Wednesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) each adding about 1.2%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was gaining 2.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was decreasing 0.8%.Crude oil prices jumped after President Donald Trump threatened additional strikes against Iran tonight, saying the ceasefire with Tehran was over. Sector Update: Financial Stocks Fall Late Afternoon

Financial stocks were lower in late Wednesday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index falling 1.7% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) dropping 1.8%.The Philadelphia Housing Index fell 3.5%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) was down 1.5%.Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 1.9% to $62,133, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 4 basis points to 4.569%.In economic news, US Federal Reserve officials held diverging views last month on the appropriate path of interest rates, minutes from the central bank's June policy meeting showed Wednesday.
