Energy stocks were mixed late Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index slightly higher and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) fractionally lower.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was up 0.1%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index declined 2.2%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.1% to $86.90 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract increased 0.4% to $94.13 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures added 0.8% to $2.76 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Brookfield Renewable Partners (BEP) shares were down 0.2%. The company said late Thursday it is planning to issue 750 million Canadian dollars ($545 million) of green bonds.
