Energy stocks were advancing pre-bell Thursday, with the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) 1.3% higher.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 1.5% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.1% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 1.4% higher at $76.26 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil rose 1.6% to $80.75 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.6% at $2.67 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
ConocoPhillips (COP) shares were up more than 1% after the company reported higher Q2 adjusted earnings and total revenue.
