In corporate news, Ford (F) has joined the competition to build the US Army's newest tactical truck, marking its pursuit of its largest military contract since the Cold War, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Ford shares added 0.8%.
Coca-Cola FEMSA (KOF) shares jumped nearly 5% after the company reported better than expected Q2 earnings and revenue.
Brown-Forman (BF.A, BF.B) said Sunday it has received an unsolicited takeover offer from Sazerac, and concluded that the proposal is "not actionable." Brown-Forman Class A shares rose 3.5%, and its Class B shares climbed up 3.6%.
