Consumer stocks were mixed premarket Thursday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) 0.5% higher and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) down 0.7%.
American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) stock was down nearly 15% even after the company posted higher fiscal Q2 earnings and revenue.
Macy's (M) shares were down more than 4% after the company issued its fiscal Q3 outlook, expecting a wider loss than projected by analysts.
Philip Morris International (PM) expanded its Zyn portfolio, adding options across nicotine strengths, flavors, moisture levels and pouch formats, the company said. Philip Morris International shares were 0.8% higher pre-bell.
