Consumer stocks were edging higher premarket Friday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) advancing by 0.2% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) up 0.1%.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) stock was down more than 12% after the company posted a decline in fiscal Q1 earnings and cut its 2026 guidance.
G-III Apparel Group (GIII) shares were up more than 5% after the company raised its fiscal 2027 adjusted EPS outlook.
Target (TGT) has issued a voluntary recall of its Up & Up Fragrance Free and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented wipes due to bacterial contamination, the retailer said. Shares of Target were 0.5% higher pre-bell.
