Consumer stocks were mixed Thursday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) up 0.3% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) fractionally lower.
In corporate news, Macy's (M) lifted its full-year outlook on Thursday as the department store operator reported higher-than-expected fiscal Q2 earnings and revenue. Its shares were still down nearly 4%.
