Consumer stocks were lower late Friday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) decreasing 0.7% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) falling 1.3%.
In corporate news, Stellantis (STLA) is in talks with China's Huawei and JAC Group for long-term industrial cooperation on its luxury brand Maserati, Reuters reported. Italian daily Milano Finanza first reported the talks Friday, saying that the discussions were at an advanced stage and centered on using Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility platform for Maserati, the report said. Stellantis shares were up 1.4%.
