Consumer stocks were lower late Thursday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) falling 1.2% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) dropping 1.7%.
In corporate news, Etsy (ETSY) is positioned for durable growth amid better-than-projected strategy execution and as third-party data continue to imply "conservative" guidance, BofA Securities said in a note. BofA upgraded its rating on the Etsy stock to buy from neutral and raised its price objective to $105 from $88. Etsy shares rose 1.7%.
