Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG) said Monday it has named Nate Baxter president and chief executive officer, as well as a member of the company's board of directors, effective immediately.
Baxter succeeds Jim Hagedorn, who had been CEO since 2001 and chairman since 2003.
The company also said that it has elected Independent Lead Director Pete Shumlin as chairman.
Shares of Scotts Miracle-Gro were down 2.1% pre-bell.

Eon Resources (EONR) and its wholly owned subsidiary, LH Operating, provided an update on a Sept. 9 transaction, under which one or more subsidiaries of Virtus Energy Partners will drill up to 92 horizontal wells in the San Andres formation across Eon's 13,700 leasehold acres in the Grayburg-Jackson field in Eddy County, New Mexico, according to a statement Friday.Eon said it will release results of the newly drilled horizontal wells in Q1, after all 2026 horizontal wells are drilled.
