SBI Shinsei Bank's (TYO:8303) attributable profit declined to 38.5 billion yen in the fiscal first quarter from 44.2 billion yen a year ago.
Basic earnings per share for the three months ended June 30 fell to 43.36 yen from 55.39, according to a Friday filing to the Japanese stock exchange.
Ordinary income in fiscal Q1, however, increased to 226.7 billion yen from 180.7 billion yen a year ago.
The lender's shares were up over 5% in recent trade.
