Saulteau First Nations and EDF Power Solutions secured a 30-year power purchase agreement for the 200.6-megawatt Taylor South Wind Project, the companies said Friday.
BC Hydro awarded the contract through its 2025 Call for Power program. The project will help support rising electricity demand in British Columbia as the province expands its clean energy supply, the partners said.
Taylor South expands the previously contracted Taylor Wind project. Saulteau First Nations holds a 51% economic interest in the venture, which is located on Crown Land about 10 kilometers south of Taylor in British Columbia's Peace River Region.
The partners expect the facility to begin supplying electricity in 2032. Once operational, the project should generate enough power to serve about 60,000 homes, according to the announcement.
BC Hydro selected Taylor South as one of four clean energy projects in its 2025 Call for Power. The project will provide electricity for growing communities, housing development, and broader electrification efforts across the province, the companies said.
Taylor South represents an investment of about $650 million, including more than $150 million earmarked for local development and construction activities.
The project is expected to create over 250 jobs and will continue engagement with First Nations, residents, government agencies and other stakeholders ahead of its planned 2032 startup.
