Salesforce's Results Ease AI Pressure Concerns for Software Sector, UBS Says

By

Salesforce's (CRM) fiscal Q3 results and full-year guidance helped ease investor concerns that AI tools may erode demand for traditional software, UBS Securities said Thursday in a report.

UBS cited stable demand signals including solid new bookings, resilient growth in current remaining performance obligations, and better-than-expected momentum in Slack and Marketing Cloud, while margin guidance held despite dilution from recent acquisitions.

Salesforce's expanding AI lineup, including Claudeforce, Agentforce and Slackbot, broadens the product portfolio and offers potential upside into fiscal 2028, the report said.

"Salesforce's growth metrics are very mixed but do not show strong evidence of AI displacement, bolstering the growing view that apps may be a more resilient category than thought," UBS said. Instead of competing directly, "the notion that Anthropic is co-developing a Claude-based product with Salesforce serves to de-risk the sector," the report said.

UBS raised its price target on Salesforce stock to $240 from $210 and maintained its neutral rating.
