Rio Tinto Group (ASX:RIO) and Ngarlawangga Aboriginal have signed an interim modernized agreement to strengthen their partnership and establish a co-management approach for Ngarlawangga country, according to a Tuesday statement by the company.
The agreement will ensure Ngarlawangga perspectives are considered in cultural heritage and land management decisions throughout the mine's lifecycle while providing greater certainty and long-term financial support for the community's cultural, social, and economic goals, Rio Tinto said.
The company's shares fell 1% in recent Tuesday trade.
