Renewable Identification Number markets traded lower in the week of June 4-11, according to the EcoEngineers Carbon Market Snapshot.
For the current year, D4 2026 biomass-based diesel RIN prices were trading at $2.40 per RIN on Thursday, down from $2.43 a week ago.
D5 2026 advanced biofuel RINs were trading around $2.40 per RIN, unchanged from a week earlier.
D6 2026 corn-based ethanol RIN prices finished trading on Thursday at $2.37 per RIN, below $2.38 a week ago.
Zander Capozzola, principal consultant at Argus Media Consulting Services, said D4 RIN prices fell less than 1% over the course of the week.
The soybean oil-to-heating oil spread, also known as the BOHO spread, sagged under $2 for a couple of sessions before recovering, Capozzola said.
"Moves were made on thinner liquidity this week. The RIN futures market was gaining more attention than the spot markets," Capozzola said.
He added that the D4 spread to BOHO narrowed somewhat during the week, but renewable diesel and biodiesel margins remain firmly profitable.
"The D4 was down less than 1% off record highs, and it was on thin liquidity. I would like to see what happens when traders are back at their desks," the consultant said.
