Resona's Q1 Net Income Jumps 14%; Ordinary Income Rises

Resona (TYO:8308) posted a 14% year-over-year increase in attributable net income for the fiscal first quarter to 80.5 billion yen from 70.5 billion yen.

The bank holding company's net income per share were 35.78 yen, compared with 30.76 yen a year earlier, according to a Tokyo Stock Exchange filing on Friday.

Ordinary income increased 20% to nearly 340 billion yen for the three months ended June 30 from 300.1 billion yen a year ago.

In a separate filing, Resona raised its full-year attributable profit forecast to 330 billion yen from 310 billion yen initially, citing strong first-quarter performance and the expectation that net interest income will exceed the initial plan following the Bank of Japan's policy rate hike.

The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 18.50 yen per share, each, for the current year, higher than the amount paid in the year-ago period.
