Repsol, Toyota, BMW, Bosch Begin Renewable Gasoline Vehicle Pilot in Spain

By

Spanish oil company Repsol (REP.MC), Toyota Motor (TYT.L), BMW (BMW.F), and Bosch launched a six-month pilot in Spain to test the use of 100% renewable gasoline in existing vehicles under real-world conditions.

The project, which began in July, will use 20 Toyota and BMW vehicles powered by Repsol's Nexa 95 renewable gasoline. Meanwhile, Bosch's Digital Fuel Twin system will track and verify fuel use through vehicle data, fuel stations, and fuel card transactions, according to a Wednesday release.

The companies said the pilot will assess the scalability of renewable gasoline using existing vehicles and refuelling infrastructure. Findings will be shared with European policymakers and industry stakeholders to support discussions on the inclusion of renewable vehicles in future regulation.
