RenewableUK urged the UK government to include planning, tax, and hydrogen measures in its proposed Energy Independence Bill to lower energy costs, it said on Wednesday.
The bill was announced in the King's speech on Wednesday.
RenewableUK Chief Executive Tara Singh said the legislation could strengthen UK energy security and help reduce electricity prices through cheaper renewable energy development.
"That means removing avoidable delays in planning, changing the tax treatment of wind projects so that investment costs can be recovered earlier," Singh added.
She said the measures would lower financing costs and electricity prices, adding that a national hydrogen network could help expand long-duration energy storage.
"The prize of getting this right is cheaper, more secure energy built here in Britain, and less exposure to gas price shocks beyond our control," Singh said.
