QAF's (SGX:Q01) unit, Gardenia Foods (S), confirmed its plans to relocate its bakery production from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, according to a Wednesday bourse filing.
Pursuant to the relocation, 141 employees at its manufacturing facility in Pandan Loop will be retrenched and will receive support in line with Singapore's labor laws, the filing said. Production at this facility will cease on June 30.
The decision to move operations is part of the food company's efforts to improve operational efficiency and remain competitive.
