Proton H1 Sales Rise to Highest Level in 15 Years

By

Proton's (KLSE:PROTON) first-half vehicle sales surged 39.1% from a year earlier to 100,346 units, according to a Tuesday press release.

This marks the carmaker's strongest January-June performance in 15 years and places it halfway toward its 2026 sales target of 200,000 vehicles.

The company delivered 16,052 vehicles in June, supported by solid demand for its internal combustion engine models and rapid growth in its Proton e.MAS electric vehicle lineup. The Proton Saga remained its best-selling model with 44,375 units sold in the first six months, followed by the Proton X50 and Proton S70.

Proton said deliveries of its e.MAS new energy vehicles shot up 321% year on year to 17,920 units in the first half, led by the locally assembled Proton e.MAS 5.

The automaker plans to expand production capacity and introduce new models as it targets stronger sales in the second half of the year, it said.
