-- Power Transitions said on Tuesday it will acquire five power plants in New York state producing a total of 323 megawatts and their associated pipeline infrastructure from Alliance Energy Group.
The company will convert the plants, Batavia, Hillburn, Massena, Shoemaker and Sterling, to "new power generation" with battery energy storage and powered land sites for data centers and advanced manufacturers, it said.
The company said the broad geographic footprint of the assets will provide opportunities to co-locate new power generation and BESS facilities on brownfield energy campuses, with existing grid connections in place that can be expanded to meet growing regional demand.
The purchase marks Power Transitions' entry into the New York market and increases its total power generation assets to 550 MW over seven power stations. Power Transitions was acquired last year by asset manager Partners Group.
The acquisition is expected to close later this year once closing conditions have been met and regulatory approvals obtained, the company said.
