Planet Labs (PL) said Monday it launched a new satellite-data program with the Government of Rwanda to provide its data to government agencies, public universities, and select startups across the country.
The Rwanda Space Agency will manage the program, which will leverage the company's satellite data to monitor food security and forest health, refine urban planning, and inform disaster planning, response and recovery, according to a statement.
Satellite data will also be used to train undergraduate students and support research in Earth Observation in Rwanda, the company said.
