Pilgrim's Pride (PPC) said Friday it is investing $75 million to expand and overhaul its poultry facility in Ellijay, Georgia.
The investment will ramp harvesting and portioning capacity in Ellijay, as well as allow the facility to produce a broader mix of boneless chicken products, according to a statement.
The company said it will shutter its aging harvesting portion of its Chattanooga, Tennessee, operations, but will continue utilizing its deboning infrastructure to support Ellijay's expanded operations.
The 348 affected team members will be eligible for transfer to a different company location or to apply for open roles at facilities across the US, the company said.
