Philips' Infringement Hearing Against Quectel Wireless Solutions Set in August; Quectel Shares Dip 8%

Quectel Wireless Solutions (SHA:603236) said Koninklijke Philip's infringement suit against the company is still ongoing, with a trial being scheduled on Aug. 24, according to a Shanghai bourse filing on Thursday.

The Chinese wireless communications device manufacturer is among multiple companies named in Philips' suit, with the Dutch medical electronics company alleging Quectel infringed four U.S. patents.

The court of the District of Delaware denied Quectel's motions to determine that it did not infringe U.S. patents after approving Philips' amended complaint in March.

Quectel's shares dropped 8% during the midday trade.

United Microelectronics (TPE:2303) board approved an investment of up to NT$1.7 billion in private equity fund TGVest Asia Partners III (Taiwan), according to a Wednesday Taiwan Exchange filing.The investment will be made through capital contributions based on capital call notices under the fund's limited partnership agreement.The funds will be used as a long-term investment, it said.
