Malaysia's state-owned energy company Petronas will assume full ownership of Pengerang Refining and Pengerang Petrochemical, collectively called PRefChem, following the transfer of Aramco's equity stakes, according to a joint statement on Monday.
Petronas and Aramco said they mutually agreed on the transaction, in line with each company's priorities. Aramco optimizes its downstream portfolio with the deal, while Petronas gains flexibility and operational alignment across its value chain.
Following the transfer of stakes, the two companies will explore commercial arrangements, potentially involving crude oil supply, technology exchange, and product distribution, according to the statement.
